It looks like everybody in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be making an appearance in 'Captain America: Civil War.' After all, the movie will be about a war that tears the Avengers into two opposing factions and ultimately threatens to destroy everything the team stands for.
However, one major character has not yet been included in the cast and the actor that portrays him has just confirmed why. Samuel L. Jackson spoke to Collider and revealed what will happen to his character Nick Fury.
"I'm not in Captain America 3," he said. "I can't figure that out, but I'm not. I guess I'm still out there, trying to figure out what happened to S.H.I.E.L.D. and who these other people are."
Jackson also revealed that he only has two films left to work on in his nine-picture deal with Marvel. The 'Django Unchained' actor also admitted that he wants to work on more MCU movies. "I'm looking for a contract extension right now, yeah," he confirmed. "I'm looking to re-up."
There are speculations that Jackson's last two films with Marvel will be the two-part sequel, "Avengers: Infinity War.'
The actor is understandably grateful for nabbing the role of Nick Fury. Jackson admitted that he thanked Mark Millar when the comic book writer was on the set of the film 'Kingsman.' "I finally got a chance to thank him for making Nick Fury black and changing the whole dynamic," the actor said.
Several characters have been confirmed to play a role in 'Civil War.' Captain America (Chris Evans) will lead one faction, while Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) stands against them. Regular MCU characters like Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) will also play large roles in the film.
'Captain America: Civil War' is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
