Guardians of the Galaxy 2: Chris Pratt Gets Emotional Over Movie Pitch, James Gunn Finishes First Draft [SPOILERS]

The sequel to the superhero blockbuster 'Guardians of the Galaxy' is one of the most highly-anticipated Marvel movies of the now. Luckily, the film's star and director are keeping the fans updated on the project's recent developments.

Chris Pratt has just spoken to Digital Spy and confirmed that he knows everything about 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2.' However, Starlord chose to keep mum about the details. He did admit that he got emotional when director James Gunn presented the first pitch.

"His pitch and his idea legitimately put tears in my eyes it is so good," Pratt confessed.

Unlike the GotG star, Gunn was quick to divulge a few secrets about the new movie. The director had posted a new photo on his Facebook page to celebrate the completion of the screenplay's first draft.

The caption read, "Phew. After 48 days straight without a day off, the the first draft of #GotG2 is done. I'm sorry to all my friends and family who I have ignored."

Gunn also told Movie Pilot several juicy details about the sequel. He revealed that Marvel has given him enough freedom with the film, since the Guardians aren't based on Earth. The director also confirmed that Starlord's father will finally appear, but will not be the same character as the comic book.

In the comics, J'son of Spartax is the character's father. However, Gunn says that the character is "unappealing to me. First of all, his name is J'son."

'Guardians of the Galaxy 2,' as the director confirmed, will also mark the return of Zoe Saldana as Gamora, David Batista as Drax the Destroyer, Michael Rooker as Yondu and Karen Gillan as Nebula. Bradley Cooper will still provide the voice for Rocket and Vin Diesel will return as the voice of Groot.

The film is scheduled for release on May 5, 2017.
