Twitter Users Threaten to Boycott ESPN for Awarding Caitlyn Jenner The Ashe Award

The netizens of Twitter threatened to boycott ESPN, as soon as they sports network declared Caitlyn Jenner to receive the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage on the upcoming ESPY this year in Los Angeles.

Twitter users have been actively showing their support to those people who they think are more deserving to receive the award than Jenner, that they made the hashtag #BoycottESPN a trending topic. The Daily Caller noticed that a lot of tweets are rooting for Lauren Hill to get the award. She was a 19-year-old cancer patient who made her dream come true of playing college basketball before she died. Long distance runner, Dancing With The Stars contender and double amputee Irag Veteran Noah Galloway is another person whom a lot of them think is more deserving of the title.

The award's night is not usually as popular as the Oscar's or the Grammy's, but it is now garnering a lot of attention due to the announcement that they made regarding Jenner. The Daily News said that this decision by the network is due to the courage that Jenner has shown to finally live with the the truth he has been hiding for years. Such action won't just comfort those who are experiencing the same situation, but it's also a way of educating the public and creating awareness what a transgender has to face on a regular basis.

But despite their explanation, Twitter users are still adamant on their stand that the network is making a huge mistake on their decision. The New York Post also said that ESPN gave a written document saying that choosing Jenner will "help move forward a constructive dialogue about progress and acceptance." The coach of St. Joseph University women's basketball disagrees with everything that ESPN has decided that he told FOX411, Lauren HIll is the one deserving the spot and whether she gets the award or not, he will still work on the mission that Hill started in giving hope to cancer patients and going after their dreams.
