Ellie Goulding Admits to a Fling with One Direction's Niall Horan But Insists She Never Dated Ed Sheeran

Last year, Ed Sheeran made headlines when it was reported that his song "Don't" was inspired by Ellie Goulding.

The song was about an ex cheating on him with a friend. Since its release, speculations gathered that he must have been talking about Ellie and One Direction member Niall Horan.

The 'Love Me Like You Do' singer said that it was blown out of proportion. "I did go on a few dates with Niall, but I was never in a relationship with Ed [Sheeran]. I have absolutely no idea where that came from and why it was turned into such a big thing," she explained.

The 28-year-old shared her frustrations about the double standards women in music face. She said that her friend Taylor Swift also feels the same way.

"I find it so frustrating that female musicians are constantly defined by the men they have or haven't dated. It's something I've talked about with Taylor a lot. She definitely feels that. She gets bothered by it."

Ellie also starred in Taylor's mega-hit "Bad Blood" music video.

She added: "It's like, you can be a great artist, you can write great songs, but the thing that everyone is going to talk about is some relationship they think you have had or not had. It's definitely something we both think happens to female artists over male artists.'"

Ed has already stated that he's over the woman who betrayed him in hit song 'Don't.' He explained: "I got over the anger the moment I wrote the song."

But obviously the damage had already been done and the issue was dragged way too long.

Despite the love triangle rumor, Ellie gushed over her current boyfriend, McFly's Dougie Poynter. She said he is 'the one forever.'

The singer revealed that she had the hots for her beau even before they coupled up.

"When I was a teenager, I fancied him but I thought he was so out of my league. Way too good-looking for me. Calvin Harris has already offered to play at our wedding. Not that we've organized one. But the offer has been made."
