Unknown Woman Throws $200,000 Worth Of Apple Computer

One of the 200 first-generation desktop computers created by Steve Jobs, Ron Wayne and Steve Wozniak back in 1976 is worth six figures by now and was suspectedly thrown by an unknown woman in the Bay Area. It is known as the Apple I.

According to The Washington Post, it was in April of this year that a certain woman who also experienced the recent death of her husband, decided to clean out her garage, disposing this valuable piece of tech history. She went to a recycling firm in Silicon Valley to hand them two boxes containing those expensive vintage computers.

San Jose Mercury News reported that a private collection bought it for $200,000 from the recycling firm. However, they are now on a hunt for the woman who donated it and they ought to give her half of what they made. The firm's Vice President Victor Gichun said that, it's their policy to give half of the proceeds to the one who donated it. Hence, this is why they are on the look out for that woman even though it might take them some time to find her. The unknow donor never gave her name and didn't even bother to ask for a receipt even when Gichun offered it.

Bench Mark Monitor noted that the price of this vintage computer that was recently found is not that pricey compared to others that could go as high as $750,000. That kind of sale happened last year when Bonham sold a functioning Apple I. Another unit of the same model was also sold about a couple of years ago for almost $675,000.

The recycling firm's staff were shocked to see what's inside the boxes that the woman dropped in their place. Thanks to the help of computer science professor David Crandall, they were able to determine the value of the supposed trash the mystery woman left them. According to Crandall, it also happened to be the first ever computer that Jobs and Wozniak built in their garage that created a revolution in the industry of personal computers.
