'Star Wars The Force Awakens' Uncovers Andy Serkis As Supreme Leader Snoke [PHOTOS]

Andy Serkis will play another motion-capture character, but this time, it will be in the highly anticipated sequel 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens.'

Starwars.com has just released an exclusive interview with photographer Annie Leibovitz, who was recently commissioned to take pictures for Vanity Fair's feature on the film. However, one aspect of the interview that instantly went viral was a previously unpublished photo of Serkis in full motion capture gear.

It was confirmed that the 'Lord of the Rings' actor will be playing Supreme Leader Snoke.

The image instantly went viral. Entertainment Weekly posted the picture on Twitter, with the caption: "ICYMI: Andy Serkis' #StarWars #TheForceAwakens character has been revealed"

There were no confirmations whether Snoke will aid the Jedi or join the Sith in the dark side.

Before he became known for playing Gollum in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, Serkis has appeared in movies like 'Career Girls,' 'Among Giants' and '13 Going on 30.' He was appeared in several movies through motion capture, like 'King Kong,' 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' and its sequel 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.'

The actor appeared in the flesh in 'Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,' 'Death of a Superhero,' 'Brighton Rock' and 'Wild Bill.' Serkis recently starred in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' as Ulysses Klaue, a role he will reprise in the 2018 Marvel film 'Black Panther.'

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will mark the return of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher into the film series. It will also star Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and Lupita Nyong'o.

Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth in HBO's 'Game of Thrones,' will play Captain Phasma. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams and is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
