Yesterday, Food World News reported about Liam Payne's impromptu performance of Oasis' classic, "Wonderwall." With new reports floating about One Direction's upcoming album, maybe the karaoke stint was a foreshadowing of some sort.
Liam Payne revealed to UK's Capital FM that the new album would have a different sound than previously released records from the group. In fact, Payne says it's "a bit Oasis-y, almost."
In an exclusive interview with ET Online, Niall Horan also gave a few more details about the album. "There's a few different sounds on the album, not all the songs sound the same, like, same vibe. They are all kind of different," Horan said.
He added, "Couple of different guitars and drums. It's a lot different than what we did before... but, it's cool." Liam also added that "there's a lot of old school vibes as well."
The One Direction member also said "the songs have been coming out a bit more chilled." But Oasis isn't the only inspiration for the album. Singer Ed Sheeran was also a contributing factor in producing the new material.
"We want this to be quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to anytime, like Ed [Sheeran's] album," Payne pointed out.
No reports have yet said anything about the upcoming album's title. However, this follow up to "Four" is the first record from One Direction that does not include Zayn Malik.
As fans and listeners may or may not know, people are probably wondering how Oasis singer Noel Gallagher feels about the upcoming album. Speaking to Rolling Stone early this year, Gallagher recounts his encounters with a One Direction member.
"I know Harry Styles. We've hung out a couple of times. They're lovely lads," Noel admitted. But he didn't put on the brakes just there.
He continued, "But I've got to say, I have difficulties with people who don't write their own songs, who've got a team of songwriters who work for your record label."
