Amy Schumer's Worst Gig: Performing for Terrorist Group

Comedienne and actress Amy Schumer admits she once performed for a known terrorist organziation during her early years, according to PEOPLE Magazine.

Schumer, who started doing shows at the age of 23, shares her worst experience as a stand-up comedian.

"I was opening for Dave Atell at an improv in Washington, D.C, and was walking past the White House," she said. "This woman came up to me; she had kind eyes. I'm like, 'She's a fan!', I was like, 'I'm a comedian', and she goes, 'These people are on a hunger strike; would you perform for them?."

At that time, the Inside Amy Schumer star was with her celebrity friends Lena Dunham, Tracee Ellis Ross, Gina Rodriguez and Ellie Kemper. According to Daily Mail, Schumer was hesitant if she should perform so she asked her fellow comedians about it.

"I then noticed there were 40 people there with signs showing how long it'd been since they'd eaten. I called some friends, and "I was like, 'I shouldn't do this, right?' Jim Norton was like 'You gotta get the gig.' (laughs) So I tried to write hunger-strike jokes.", she said.

Disregarding her doubts, the 33-year old comedienne decided to accept the invitation and took the challenge. As she performed, the upshot was not exactly what she expected.

"These people looked like everyone in The Exodus," she said. "So I performed, and no one laughed. I made jokes like, 'Hey, at least no waitresses will be distracting you here!' But I bombed."

Schumer, who thought she was just performing for people on a hunger striker, later found out that it was a group of known terrorists. "I found out later they were a known terrorist organization," she said.

And out of all her years in the stand-up comedy indudstry, it was the most mortifying moment of her life. The funny lady however seems to have brushed it off and finished the story with some humor: "Making people laugh is what I can do to give back."

Aside from her comedy routines on stage and on screens, she is also a comedy writer and a producer. The Peabody Awardee wrote and will star in her first movie Trainwrecker, which will be released this coming July.

Amy Schumer has also been in the headlines recently, with an official from ABC offering her the role in the next 'The Bachelorette' season.
