Microsoft Lumia 640 Price Updates, Units Seen in Wal-Mart

T-Mobile will start releasing the Microsoft Lumia 640 very soon and the handset is expected to cost around $130, according to TmoNews.

Though the carrier previously announced that the handsets would not be available until July 16, a few units were spotted on sale at Wal-Mart, costing $99.76. They were sold in no time.

Microsoft does budget-friendly phones so well and the Lumia 640 could be the best pick if one is eyeing for an alternative to most Apple and Android smartphones.

Though the popular name 'Nokia' has been phased out in the tech market, its designs are more alike with the Lumia device. The newest version is covered with a smooth plastic finish and has a one-piece back panel with round-shaped corners. The phone is also available in a range of bright and attention-grabbing colors.

Among other budget-friendly handsets in today's market, Lumia 640 stands out when it comes to external and internal phone features.

Compared to its predecessors, the Lumia 640 measures 8.8mm in thickness and eatures a 5-inch 720x1280-resolution LCD screen, making colors pop even more.

It is power-driven by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quadcore processor along with 1GB RAM. The Lumia 640 is packed with an 8GB internal storage that is expandable through a microSD card up to 128GB.

Microsoft has used Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 for its screen protection and the popular ClearBlack display technology is also included in the Lumia 640 handset, which grants a killer viewing experience.

The budget-friendly Lumia also features an 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash. For those who love selfies, the front camera has a 1MP sensor.

As for the battery quality, Lumia 640 is a 2,500 mAh unit, which is capable of giving up to 17 hours and 30 minutes 3G talk time and 864 hours of 3G stand-by time.

Mobile carrier Cricket, who denied the earlier announcement of its release date, has already begun selling the device for $129.99.

According to Phonearena, if the handset would be purchased before June 30, Microsoft will offer a 1-year Office 365 bundle for free.
