The World’s Most Expensive $12,000 Pie

The Record Breaker Pie was made by Chef Paul Medcalf of The Lord Dudley Hotel, Paddington, as part of "Deal of the Day" Groupon's promotion. #Poshpie competition. The contest is for the celebration on the Groupons sale of the 2 millionth food and drink voucher, if you win, you can eat the world's most expensive pie free of charge

It took the Chef three weeks to create the mouthwatering Surf and Turf pie.

Medcalf said, "I thought if we just take what we do here well ad eftake Australia's and the world's most finest ingredients then the pie will work and it didIt was definitely very, very rich, but all the flavors managed to work together" he added.

"We are proud to sell the pies that we normally do here but this one was to the extreme."

The traditional meat pie has been added with extra posh makeover.The chef wanted to take the classic surf and turf concept and replicate it into a pie using the best quality ingredients.

The ingredients of the extravagant gourmet included West Australian lobsters, Japanese Kobe Brisket, two bottles of 2004 Penfolds Grange Reserve, shaved French truffles, dried Italian porcini mushrooms, and David Blackmore eye fillet. Then Medcalf topped the pie with homemade organic pastry and German gold leaf to make it more tempting.

Medcalf admitted, he really enjoyed the challenged.

The luxurios pie is on sale through Groupon, fortunately one lucky winner will have the chance to win a serving of the gourmet for free.
