X-Men Apocalypse Cast: ‘Star Wars’ Actor Oscar Isaac Talks Mutant Villain – ‘Biblical,’ He Says

It seems like these days Oscar Isaacs is in every movie that sounds remotely cool, being part of the upcoming "Star Wars" sequel "The Force Awakens" set to premiere later this year, besides co-starring in Alex Garland's sci-fi "Ex Machina" and even joining the "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast.

The "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast features some of the biggest names in movies these days, from stars of the previous films such as Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman and Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence to new additions such as Isaac, Alexandra Shipp and "Game of Thrones" Sansa Stark Sophie Turner, who will be taking on the role of Jean Grey, made famous to mainstream audiences by Famke Janssen in the first movies.

As amazing as the entirety of the "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast is, all eyes are now focused on villain Apocalypse, played by Isaac, and as the film's still one year away from release he's already speaking about his motivations for the role.

Also known as En Sabah Nur or "The First One" in the comic books, Apocalypse is an immortal mutant (the most similar to immortality so far is Wolverine) and one of the main antagonists of Charles Xavier's team due to the fact that he's a major force to be reckoned with, having powers as varied as the ability to alter his form, telepathy and telekinesis - all of which make his addition to the "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast frankly terrifying!

"I've been reading the script a lot and trying to come at for me, an interesting angle. Definitely focusing on the fact he is the embodiment of the second coming of the judgements of God and that energy going in," Isaac told the Monkeys Fighting Robots podcast." We're playing with that. What we are trying to do is make his philosophy and what his mission is, one that is both simple but also holds water, that really makes sense throughout the whole movie."

Newsarama reports that this is an interesting take on the character, as there have never been allusions in the comic books to this mutant being tied to biblical origins, although there is a lot of imagery.

We can't wait for more about the "X-Men: Apocalypse" cast!
