Aurora Products Recall Raw Macadamia Nuts For Fear Of Salmonella Contamination

Aurora Products, Inc. has announced voluntary recall of their raw macadamia nuts packaged under the Aurora brand label and various store brand labels. The move was made after possible Salmonella contamination was suspected on the affected products.

Aurora Products products are feared to be infected with Salmonella that can cause severe diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever 72 hours after being infected, the Centers for Disease Control And Prevention reports.

CDC reports that there are about 450 fatalities and 1.2 million sickness that are caused by Salmonella in the United States yearly.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration states that Aurora Products products were being recalled in stores in the following states: Connecticut, Washington D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia and West Virginia.

Aurora Products recall comes after routine testing by an outside company attested by FDA. The findings revealed Salmonella contamination in one of the raw Macadamia product.

WMDT stated that there were no illnesses reported related to the recalled product but people are warned that if they purchase any of the products, they must return it to the store where they purchased it for a full refund. Everyone must also not consume the reported contaminated product.

Salmonella affects children easily as well as people with weak immune systems, elderly, and pregnant women. It occurs most in summer than in winter.
