YouTube sensation Action Movie Kid is keeping it in the family. The adventurous little star of his father's short special effects films is back for more antics and this time, he's got company.
Youtube channel Field Day has just released Action Movie Kid's latest project, which chronicles his family's life with a new baby in the house. Titled 'Super Kids Epic Showdown,' it features the little action hero with his telekinetic baby sister Sophia and the long-suffering Action Movie Dad.
Here is the film's synopsis:
"Raising kids is always an adventure, but what happens when your children have superpowers? Action Movie Kid goes on his grandest adventure yet as he bands together with his baby sister to resist the evil Alpha Tots Academy who wants to take them away."
'Action Movie Kid' stars in his own web series of the same name. He is James Hashimoto in real life, and the short films are actually home videos recorded by his father Daniel. However, unlike regular home movies, James' clips include death-defying stunts, large explosions and the occasional lightsaber duel.
No Action Movie Kids are harmed during making of these videos. After filming, Daniel Hashimoto adds the special effects through Adobe After Effects. The father of two is actually a visual development artist for Dreamworks Animation, which explains the films' seamless quality. He is known as Action Movie Dad in the short films.
In addition to the web series, Action Movie Kid is also working on a book. The tiny adventurer will be going up against a real monster.
Field Day offers a platform for Youtube filmmakers to release their works. The channel features one new film every week.
'Super Kids Epic Showdown' is Action Movie Kid's most elaborate short film yet. It was directed by Hashimoto and Matt Harry, who also wrote the screenplay. The film is currently available for viewing on the Field Day Youtube channel.
