Musician Azealia Banks has been known to be an outspoken type of person. Banks joins Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, Trina, Tink, and Dej Loaf as nominees for Best Female Hip-Hop Artist for this year's BET Awards.
However, instead of the typical display of appreciation from music artists, Azealia slammed the awards show on Monday through her Twitter account.
Banks expressed her discontent about getting her name wrong. In one tweet, she said, "@BET has thrown me much shade over the years. Keep misspelling my name..."
She even said that the BET Awards is phony. "I really hate getting nominated for @bet awards. They're so bogus," she said in another tweet.
Banks claims that there is some bias for annual winners. She wrote again on the social media website, "The female rap award at the bet awards goes to nicki every year, it's not even a real award anymore lol it's a bit of a running joke."
Maybe it's prejudice, or maybe it's hatred for her fellow rapper, but she added, "They should just nominate nicki five times with five different wigs on and pick the best picture lol."
Banks was quick to clarify that her comments about Nicki Minaj and the BET Awards aren't meant to stir up any rift or conflict.
She explained on Twitter, "Yall taking this bet thing over board. All I said was to give the girl the goddamn trophy. Negroes stay instigating."
Whether or not her cryptic tweet was regarding her comments on the BET Awards, the "Ice Princess" singer portrayed some form of wisdom for her fans.
"If you're not going to respect me then what's the point of even mentioning me. I'm really really not interested. Please leave me out," she wrote.
The tweets from Monday night look as though the 23-year-old rapper is simply venting her frustration about Nicki Minaj winning the award for five consecutive years now.
