Peter Sarsgaard is In, Jason Momoa is Out of 'The Magnificent Seven' Remake

The crew of 'The Magnificent Seven' is learning that you win some, you lose some.

MGM's remake of the classic Western film has just added Peter Sarsgaard to its ever growing cast, but has also lost Jason Momoa to possible scheduling conflicts.

According to Deadline, Sarsgaard has signed on to play Bartholomew Bogue, a tyrannical baron who tries to take over a small town. Bogue reportedly orders for a man's assassination, and the man's wife gets help from a group of hired guns to dethrone the baron.

On the other hand, Momoa has reportedly dropped out from the film. The actor was supposed to play one of Bogue's thugs, a minor role that didn't require much script or acting.

MGM had no comment on Momoa's departure.

Sarsgaard's first film role was in the 1995 Sean Penn drama 'Dead Man Walking.' He has also appeared in 'Boys Don't Cry,' 'Salton Sea' and 'K-19: The Widowmaker.' He was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing Charles Lane in 'Shattered Glass.' Sarsgaard's most recent film role was as Stanley Milgram in the biographical drama 'Experimenter,' released on January 25.

Momoa started out in many television series like 'Baywatch Hawaii' and 'North Shore.' He played Ronon Dex in the sci-fi series 'Stargate: Atlantis' and is best remembered as Khal Drogo in HBO's 'Game of Thrones.' Momoa will portray Aquaman in the much awaited DC film 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' as well as the Aquaman movie that will be released in 2018.

'The Magnificent Seven' also stars Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio and Byung-hun Lee. Before Sarsgaard, Matt Bomer joined the cast.

The film will be directed by 'Training Day' director Antoine Fuqua. It will be produced by Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black. 'The Magnificent Seven' is scheduled for release in 2017.
