Foo Fighters, Musical Guest For Final “The Late Show With David Letterman” Episode

Many A-List celebrities have lined up to say their goodbyes to "The Late Show" host David Letterman as the show comes to a close. This includes the musical guest for the finale episode, Foo Fighters.

In fact, the band informed of their appearance through a tweet on Wednesday. "Final time on this stage... #ThanksDave @Letterman," they wrote with an attached photo.

The CBS talk show talked about its final episode, "Tonight: Surprise guests, a Top Ten list, and free balloons for the kids! #ThanksDave," was tweeted.

After a long run of 22 seasons, the CBS show is set for its finale on Wednesday night. CBS 12's Suzanne Boyd was able to take a peek at which celebrities will be in attendance for the taping of the episode.

A-Listers spotted on Wednesday afternoon entering the Ed Sullivan Theater include Barbara Walters, Steve Martin, Peyton Manning, Jim Carrey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Alec Baldwin, Les Moonves and Tina Fey.

The Foo Fighters is David Letterman's band, so it's only appropriate that they will be the musical guest for the send-off show. The band has also had a special bond with the talk show host over frequent guestings in the past.

In fact, it was just in October 2014 when the Foo Fighters had a residency on "The Late Show." The residency lasted one week to promote their new album and HBO travel documentary series called "Sonic Highways."

Production company Worldwide Pants, which is owned by Letterman, co-produced the band's travelogue. Grohl even said that "Letterman was the first person to get behind this project," according to Rolling Stone.

Following his open-heart surgery, Letterman requested to have the Foo Fighters as the first musical guest for his first week back on the show. The talk show host wanted to hear "The Colour and the Shape" track entitled "Everlong."

Music Times reports that Stephen Colbert will be the new host for "The Late Show" starting in September.
