Sundance Festival Favorite 'Me and Earl and The Dying Girl' Gets New Trailer [VIDEO]

The new comedy drama 'Me and Earl and The Dying Girl' has been getting a lot of buzz lately. When it premiered at the 31st Sundance Film Festival, audiences rose to their feet and cheered wildly.

A new trailer for the film has just been released and it shows more of Thomas Mann, Ronald Cyler II and Olivia Cooke. Funny man Nick Offerman even makes an appearance with the family cat.

The trailer introduces Greg (Mann), a teenager who is an expert at avoiding normal social interactions. Greg and his best friend Earl spend their days making short films that parody old movies. The boys are satisfied with their lives until Greg's mother (Connie Britton) makes him befriend Rachel (Cooke). The girl has just been diagnosed with cancer and is initially cautious of the situation.

The unwilling parties soon become friends and Greg decides to team up with Earl to make a short film for Rachel. The three teenagers will finally realize that friendship is much more important than they think.

'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl' won the Grand Jury Prize as well as the Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

The film is based on Jesse Andrews' debut novel of the same name. The book won the 2012 Cybils Award for Young Adult Fiction. Andrews wrote the screenplay for the movie as well.

In addition to the film's awards, it has also received rave reviews from several critics. Indiewire writes, "The wonderfully funny, bittersweet, and inventive picture will headlock even the most cynical-hearted viewer and turn him or her into emotional mush."

'Me and Earl and The Dying Girl' is directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon. It also stars Jon Bernthal as Mr. McCarthy and Molly Shannon as Denise Kushner. The movie will be released in theaters on June 12, 2015.
