The fight against the obesity epidemic is real, and there are a few countries in particular (notably the United States, the United Kingdom and Mexico) where statistics of people suffering this disease have turned it into a major public health concern - which is precisely the logic behind the new electronic diet pill.
In a time where fad diets can potentially even hurt those using them, scientists turn their eye more and more often to scientifically proven ways to stay healthy, and a company from the UK has developed a new electronic diet pill now available in the country, using magnets to cheat the brain into thinking your stomach's full.
According to The Huffington Post, the electronic diet pill works as follows: after the user swallows it, the MelCap System pills activates a magnet that positions itself in a very specific spot in the stomach (near the vagus nerve or esophagus), then activating electrical pulses that'll trick the nerve and brain into thinking the stomach is full.
After entering the stomach, the electronic diet pill will stay in the person's system for a total of 21 days, when it dissolves and exits the stomach; it's also controlled wirelessly, and its electronic stimulation can be activated by using an app available in Android and iPhone.
Basically, all it takes is to activate this until the next meal; while the concept was deemed "interesting" by the medical director of the Pharmacy2U Online Doctor UK, Nitin Shori, it has been reported that clinical trials results haven't been made public so it's hard to know how much truth there is behind the effects of the electronic diet pill.
