Weird News: Ohio Edition

There must be something in the Ohio water, because things are getting strange.

For starters, the New York Daily News reported a 23-year-old man named Michael Smith from Huber Heights intentionally drove his truck through the front glass window of a newly-opened local Taco Bell restaurant. His reason? One of his tacos was missing.

Nobody inside was hurt, but Smith's truck was damaged in the collision. The vehicle leaked motor fluid, leaving a trail from the Taco Bell that police followed straight to Smith. He has been charged with felony vandalism.

According to the Huffington Post, Chris Kash, the police sargeant for Huber Heights, said, "Oh, we’ve had all kinds of vehicles into houses and businesses, and it’s always been an accident. But usually, people don’t run into Taco Bell intentionally just for a missing taco."

It is not known whether Smith was hopped up on had any MNT Dew A.M. in his system at the time.

Elsewhere in the state -- Omaha, to be exact -- thieves stole all of the vegetables that children had planted at the Sherman Community Center.

Not electronics, jewelry, clothes, or cash. Vegetables. They stole vegetables from children.

Sometime over Memorial Day weekend, Reuters reported, the burgalers dug up everything in the 4,800 sq-foot community garden and took it.

Last year, the Omaha Parks and Recreation Department received a $10,000 grant from the "Grow Your Park" program, which was intended to expand community gardens and increase involvement from children and teenagers. The children used a greenhouse in the city to grow tomatoes, basil, onions, green beans, cucumbers, cantaloupe, asparagus, and other vegetables. The plants were moved outdoors only recently.

The acting Parks and Recreation director, Brook Bench, called the situation "unfortunate."
