Alondra Luna Nunez, the 14-year-old girl from Mexico who was taken by force by Interpol officers from her school in Guanajuato in Central Mexico on April 16 was a case of 'mistaken identity.'
However, Alondra Luna Nunez dilemma didn't take long after DNA result proved that she was not the missing daughter of a Texan woman. On Wednesday, she was returned to her real parents in Mexico.
Alondra Luna Nunez was distraught after she was forcibly taken from Mexico to be with a woman in Houston, Texas who claimed to be her mother. Alondra Luna Nunez is now reunited with her biological parents in Mexico after DNA results proved that she is not the real daughter of Dorotea Garcia.
Dorotea Garcia claimed that she was searching for her daughter, who was taken from her in 2007 by her father and brought her to Mexico. According to a Yahoo report, Garcia's claim was proven more when she went to Mexico this year and saw Alondra Luna Nunez, who has the same scar on face.
However, Alondra Luna Nunez stated that she had scar on her nose while the other girl has a scar between her eyebrows.
After Interpol officers took her from her school, Alondra Luna Nunez was brought to Michoacan State on April 12 for a hearing.
Alondra Luna Nunez family presented all the documents including her birth certificate, baptismal and even photos to prove that she was daughter of a Mexican couple but the judge decided to give her to Garcia instead.
Alondra Luna Nunez was then taken by Garcia to Houston, Texas and after some days, she made a video that she posted in the social media. She was seen calm than she was first seen taken from her school thinking that soon she will be taken back to her real parents, according to Daily Mail.
"I'm fine. I see that the United States is nice,' she said, adding, 'I don't understand anything they're saying, because everything is in English."
Alondra Luna Nunez case caught the attention of the International media treating it as a high-profile case that called for further investigation. Upon reaching U.S., Alondra Luna Nunez requested for DNA test that was conducted in Mexican consulate in Houston.
Until this moment, questions such as how Alondra Luna Nunez was mistaken to be Garcia's daughter and who actually called the Interpol from US, according to NBC News.
Alondra Diaz Garcia, the real daughter of Garcia is still missing. Her father, Reynaldo Diaz remains to have a U.S. felony warrant as the main suspect for kidnapping Garcia's daughter in 2007.
On her arrival at the Guanajuato airport, Alondra Luna Nunez revealed that Garcia asked her forgiveness for all the mistakes that happened. She remained positive and holds no feeling of resentment and expressed her wish that one day Garcia will still be finding her real daughter who has been missing now for eight years.
On Wednesday, Alondra Luna Nunez family and relatives threw a party for her return in her home in Guanajuato. Her father Gustavo Luna stated that he feared that he would no longer see her daughter while Alondra Luna Nunez mother, Susana Nunez, said that she was not able to eat and sleep while her daughter was not with them.
Ruben Nunez, Alondra Luna Nunez uncle said that their family is still contemplating on whether they will pursue a legal action for what happened.
