Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are currently in the middle of an anxiety crisis as the date for the release of the "Avengers" sequel, "Age of Ultron," is about to be released in a few days' time - and it seems like the "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" season 2 episode 18 will mark the beat for what's to come in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It's widely known that there are always tie-ins between the Marvel shows and the movies, including appearances by Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders's MCU characters in past episodes of the show long before the "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" season 2 episode 18.
The biggest tie-in, however, was an entire storyline born from "Captain America: Winter Soldier" in the first season, as the organization ended up destroyed in the Chris Evans film - and things are heating up in the "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" season 2 episode 18.
Over the past few weeks, the show has had a few major focuses: the new powers Skye (Chloe Bennet) is learning how to control, the alternate SHIELD led by Robert Gonzales (Edward James Olmos) and the many secrets Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) has kept from his team, and all these will be all dealt with on the new "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" season 2 episode 18.
According to Yibada, one of the biggest plot points of the "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" season 2 episode 18 is the return of Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), a former SHIELD member that ended up betraying Coulson's team - and now he'll force an alliance with Coulson.
Breathe Cast reports that the new episode will be called "Frenemy of My Enemy," and other major plot points might include the return of Maria Hill.
International Business Times reports that, in coming episodes, the show will deal with the aftermath of "Avengers: Age of Ultron," though it has been stated that the tie-in will not be as strong as the previous one for "Captain America" - but it will apparently feature one of its stars, the "How I Met Your Mother" alum Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill.
