In late last year, Affleck was named the most overpaid actor in the world by prestigious Forbes Magazine, but that hasn't stopped the star from gathering a few coveted roles, including the latest DC Comics adaptation, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," where he'll be taking the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman - but the latest leak regarding Ben Affleck's "Finding Your Roots" shows that there might be more than meets the eye with the actor, screenwriter and director.
Now, according to The Guardian, the latest wave of Sony Pictures leaks has revealed that Ben Affleck's "Finding Your Roots" episode, which aired last September, met with a strange request for the show: Jennifer Garner's husband asked that his family's slave-owning past be removed from the show.
Express reports that the e-mail leak regarding Ben Affleck's "Finding Your Roots" was posted earlier this week on the WikiLeaks website, showing that Henry Louis Gates, the host of the PBS show, had showed surprise at the strange request, as it had apparently been the first time that any of the guests asked that something about their family line be censored - though ultimately the information was indeed left out of the broadcast.
USA Today reports that the leaked e-mails never mention Ben Affleck's "Finding Your Roots" appearance by name, but that the actor is referenced as a "megastar" and Batman, besides saying that he was shooting a film in Detroit at the time - where the Zack Snyder film was being filmed late last year.
In any case, Gates later stated that, upon reviewing about 10 hours worth of material on Affleck, they decided against publishing anything Ben Affleck's "Finding Your Roots" slave-owning ancestor.
