The (Not So) Great GoogaMooga Recap

This past weekend, Brooklyn's Prospect Park hosted the first Great Googa Mooga Festival. An estimated 40,000 people attended, and the organizers appeared to be unprepared for a crowd of that size. Problems included a lack of cell phone service, a barbaric crowd that nearly came to blows over a piece of fried chicken, and -- most upsetting -- an inadequate amount of food. While the festival's co-founder, Rick Farman, admitted that there was more to learn and promised that next year would be an improvement, frustrated festival goers took their anger to Twitter. One well-known blogger dubbed the event "a s#!t show, to put it bluntly." There are more details on the disappointing aspects of the event here.

Then again, this slide show points out the good stuff, like perfect weather and drool-inducing food. There were good tunes, too -- The Roots (and other bands) played a live show -- which is to be expected when the organizers of Bonnaroo are involved.

If you didn't get a chance to see the celebrity foodies (or the monkey that made an appearance), just remember: there's always next year.
