Cleveland Zoo Mom Charged- A boy, 2, was rescued after he fell into the fence of cheetahs in exhibit at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. Witnesses claimed that the mother of toddler was seen dangling the little boy over the zoo exhibit until he tripped and fell into the fence on Saturday.
It was found out that the mother, identified as Michelle Schwab, 37, was indicted for misdemeanor child endangering after the boy fell into the cheetah fence that is 10 feet high. The boy suffered broken leg.
Cleveland Zoo mom charged is expected to appear at the Cleveland Municipal Court on April 22, the Washington Post reported.
"While this incident is disturbing to everyone, we are glad injuries were not any more severe," Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Director Christopher Kuhar said in a statement. "We have a number of eyewitness accounts that indicate the child was held over the railing and then dropped."
It looks like that the Cleveland Zoo mom charged with misdemeanor is not only facing hard times with the federal law. After she was found guilty for intentionally dangling her own child into the cheetah fence, her own office where she's working has also started investigating her case.
Schwab was assistant director at the Sawmill Road KinderCare in Columbus and being involved in this case has called for its main company Knowledge Universe to investigate the incident, the WKYC reported.
Colleen Moran, Communications coordinator for Knowledge Universe stated that Schwab, the Cleveland Zoo mom charged for child endangering remains suspended for the meantime until the investigation has been over.
The center stressed that they are preparing for thorough examinations on Schwab's case. They insisted they value treatment of their employees to their own children as they work with common goal, which is caring for the innocent children.
The agency expressed their eagerness in investigating even the incident happened outside their office premises.
Based on police investigations, Schwab, the Cleveland Zoo mom charged was also holding another child when she dangled her 2-year-old son in the 10-feet high cheetah fence.
It was very fortunate that the 2-year-old child was not attacked by the cheetah when he fell into the fence. Fox News reported that the boy's parents quickly jumped off the pen to save the child from the dangerous animals. The parents or the boy was not harmed by the cheetahs.
Several witnesses were terrified when they heard the boy screaming when he fell.
The Zoo's executive director, Chris Kuhar stated that they have proofs that Cleveland Zoo mom charged for endangering her own child is really guilty for the offense.
The Cleveland Zoo mom charged was reported at her home after the incident as the investigations are ongoing. Her child with name withheld was brought to the MetroHealth Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.
