Sabra Hummus Recall, the latest among food recalls linked to listeriosis has hit the nation after 30,000 cases of hummus were recalled for possible Listeria contamination. The announcement made by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday reported that the recall was 'precautionary.'
According to CNN report, a sample taken from a store in Michigan tested positive for listeriosis on March 30. This prompted Sabra Dipping Co. to recall hummus products, which may be contaminated by listeria. There are no reported illnesses prior to the voluntary Sabra Hummus Recall.

Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria responsible for listeria contamination affects people with weak immune systems. High fever, stiffness, severe headache, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea are the symptoms of people found to be infected with listeria, the FDA reports.
Sabra Hummus Recall comes after Blue Bell recalled ice cream products that were also found to be infected with Listeria monocytogenes. Blue Bell recalled products had sickened eight patients where three deaths were reported.
All products distributed at retail outlets, including supermarkets and food service accounts are affected by Sabra Hummus Recall.
