Though she's known for writing songs about her love life (much to her own chagrin), there's no doubt that the "Shake it Off" singer spends a good deal of her time devoted to her fans, and the new Taylor Swift cancer letter about her mother's condition shows that she's willing to share her family's toughest times with the world.
In the past few months, the "You Belong with Me" singer has made headlines for more or less controversial topics, including buying out porn domain sites with her name to avoid her image being tainted; now, unfortunately, it's the much sadder Taylor Swift cancer news making headlines.
According to CNN, the Taylor Swift cancer story came out earlier this week, as the singer and songwriter shared a blog post on her personal Tumblr telling the story about how she asked her mother to get screened by doctors.
In the Taylor Swift cancer post, the hit-maker tells the story that, last Christmas, she asked her mother to go to the doctor to get screened to appease her fears, and, while so far it had appeared that her mother, Andrea Swift, was healthy, recent results showed that she has a yet-unnamed form of cancer.
"She wanted you to know because your parents may be too busy juggling everything they've got going on to go to the doctor, and maybe you reminding them to go get checked for cancer could possibly lead to an early diagnosis and an easier battle," Swift wrote, explaining why her mother chose to make her cancer public. "She wanted you to know why she may not be at as many shows this tour. She's got an important battle to fight."
Following Taylor Swift's cancer post, People Magazine reports that Sharon Osbourne, a cancer survivor, spoke publicly in support of the singer, saying the reason she'd gotten her own diagnose was that her oldest daughter, Aimee, had begged her and husband Ozzy to get screened.
This comes only a few weeks after Angelina Jolie's public letter in The New York Times about her preventive hysterectomy, when Sharon's daughter Kelly Osbourne publicly stated she also had the faulty cancer gene.
All the best for the family during the Taylor Swift cancer battle her mother is going through.
