Hayley Okines Dead: Hayley Okines Progeria Sufferer Dead At 17

Hayley Okines Dead- 17 year-old Hayley Okines, who had won the hearts of millions with her rare disorder Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome (HGPS), died after suffering from complication Pneumonia on Thursday. Hayley Okines died in her home in Bexhill, East Sussex.

The teenager's Progeria condition made her body aged 10 times faster than the normal rate. She was 17, but her body was locked in an elderly body of 104-year-old.  The sad Hayley Okines dead news was confirmed by Hayley Okines' mother to media in its Facebook page.

Kerry Okines wrote, "My baby girl has gone somewhere better. She took her last breath in my arms at 9.39pm."

Hayley's father Mark stated that her daughter was treated in the hospital, but temporarily went home on the day she passed away.  It seemed Hayley wanted to say goodbye to everyone. He added Hayley was able to see her little brother Louie, sister Ruby and her puppies.

As soon as Hayley Okines dead news was known, the Progeria Research Foundation expressed its deepest sympathy to the family of Hayley Okines. Progeria Research Foundation stated, "Gone from our sight, but never our memories, gone from our touch but never our hearts..." We will miss you."

Known to be Britain's 100-year-old teenager, Hayley Okines had been treated in the United States to stop her fast ageing process. However, she also suffered complications of pneumonia leading to her death. Hayley Okines dead news led everyone in mourning, the Telegraph reported.

Hayley Okines had shocked everyone when she passed the age of 13. She was earlier told that Hayley Okines, dead before reaching the age of 13.

She wrote her first autobiography at the age of 14, "Old Before my Time." She also appeared in numbers of documentaries while discussing her condition including "The Girl who is Older than Her Mother" and "World's Oldest Teenager: Extraordinary People."

Hayley Okines' Progeria did not tie her to her bed. She also wrote another book about her disorder, "Young at Heart."

Progeria, also known as Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome is an unusual progressive genetic disorder that causes the body to age fast.  While some are predicted to die at 13, others passed away before that age while some last until 20. They eventually die due to Heart problems or strokes.

Kerry Okines once said that they decided to make the life of her daughter meaningful and they would pack it with wonderful memories. Kerry and her family made sure that she was the happiest girl in the world by being able to enjoy life like normal people.

Despite her condition, Kerry shared that Hayley was able to swim with the dolphins and toured the world. She met Prince Charles, Justin Bieber and Kylie Minogue. Hayley Okines' Progeria condition made her instant popular and she even had mini-celebrity status.
