The Suzanne Collins series of books is potentially the least attractive place to live in recent literature, but there's no doubt that there would be people on board to go to a "Hunger Games" theme park, as the production company behind the books' film adaptations, Lionsgate, has just made a deal with a Dubai theme park to make attractions based on Panem a reality.
In the novels and their film adaptations, Panem is a dystopian land where a horrible civil war ended up in a vicious tyrannical government that forces young people to offer themselves as tribute and compete with others from different districts for their lives - with that concept, it's a shock that anyone at all would be into making a "Hunger Games" theme park.
According to Time Magazine, there had been vast speculation about the possibility of a "Hunger Games" theme park in the past few months, and now the whole thing has been made official, as Lionsgate has now announced it's partnering up with a Dubai Hollywood-themed park that will feature, among other things, a few attractions based on the Jennifer Lawrence-led films.
Besides the Oscar-winning actress, the cast of the series includes the likes of Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore and even Philip Seymour Hoffman, who finished shooting his scenes before passing away in early 2014; it is still unclear whether any of the cast members will be around for the "Hunger Games" theme park launch.
According to Deadline, there won't only be a "Hunger Games" theme park, but they'll also have rides honoring "Step Up," another hit from the production and distribution company.
Yahoo! News reports that the attractions will also feature their own gift shop at the Motiongate Dubai theme park, and there's still no information on what these rides will involve - but it sounds fairly shady whatever it might be.
So, if you're in Dubai in October 2016 and like teenagers with a killer instinct, the "Hunger Games" theme park will be a must visit!
