Although there's no doubt that Beyoncé Knowles was the biggest success to come out of the iconic 90s girl band, the fact is that there's a lot of excitement whenever there's a Destiny's Child reunion that sees her take Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams along for the ride - just as it happened over the past weekend!
The Stellar Gospel Awards honor the iconic genre in the United States, and they're celebrated annually in Las Vegas, Nevada - this year they had a major and completely unexpected surprise: a Destiny's Child reunion with all three of the famous gang!
According to CNN, there hadn't been a Destiny's Child reunion since the 2013 Super Bowl, when Beyoncé was the halftime show and she invited her two friends over to join her, and they performed one of the band's classics.
Williams was already scheduled to appear, and there had been some speculation on whether there'd be a Destiny's Child reunion, as she had tweeted about the awards ceremony earlier while mentioning Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland.
MTV reports that, unfortunately, the Destiny's Child reunion consisted only of one song - but that didn't keep the audience from completely losing it when the trio came up on stage.
The Destiny's Child reunion was all about Michelle Williams' gospel tune "Say Yes," which also features Beyoncé and Rowland, though none of them were scheduled to appear at the awards ceremony the past weekend. The Huffington Post reports that not one of the three singers (not even Williams) was in the award's schedule, so the surprise and amazement is completely real from the audiences.
It wasn't the only good news for Williams that night, as she took home her first Stellar award, for Music Video of the Year, precisely for that song; the song was also nominated for Urban/Inspiration Single of the Year and Song of the Year, besides Williams having another nod as Female Vocalist of the Year for the "Journey to Freedom" album.
Watch the Destiny's Child reunion below, and remember it'll air on April 5!
