A couple of years back, there was a major Chick-Fil-A controversy when the company's head said that he didn't support gay marriage, and a man in Tucson, Arizona, decided that gave him the right to yell at one of the fast food chain's employees and give her a piece of his mind.
At the time, Smith posted a video of himself yelling at an employee of the fast food chain, Rachel Elizabeth, that the company she worked for was "horrible," basically harassing her about the Chick-Fil-A controversy, and the young woman never lost her composure - but things have gotten worse for Smith every step of the way ever since.
In the video, Smith's in one of the restaurant's drive-thru and starts basically bullying Elizabeth, who keeps a straight face throughout the entire ordeal and even tells him repeatedly to have a nice day, saying that she was staying neutral on the subject of the Chick-Fil-A controversy, as she didn't take her opinions to work with her, for which Smith attacked her further.
The video became viral.
At the time, Business Insider reported that the Chick-Fil-A controversy, when it was discovered that the Georgia-based fast food company supported groups such as Exodus International and the American Family Association, which have been often branded as anti-gay due to their different stances on sexual conversion.
Later on, Fox News said that the Chick-Fil-A controversy had caused Smith, who at the time was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Treasurer of a medical manufacturer company called Vante, to be fired from his job due to his behavior, after his boss found out he'd been the person behind the video.
Now, The Daily Mail reports that, almost three years later, Smith hasn't found a new job and he and his family are living off food stamps and staying in a trailer, even after he publicly apologized for his behavior towards Elizabeth.
Smith says that he's honest about the Chick-Fil-A controversy in his job interviews, but he thinks nobody will hire him because they feel he'll do something like that again.
