Over the past few months, "The Wire" actor Idris Elba has kept his name on headlines, as it's rumored that Sony Pictures is looking to make the British actor the first-ever black James Bond - but, in the meantime, it seems he might end up as a villain in the "Star Trek" movies.
In the infamous Sony Pictures leak of 2014, when North Korea hackers made a number of internal e-mails of the production company public, Elba's name popped out as a possible James Bond in the future, and later on a past Bond, Pierce Brosnan, said he thought the "Luther" actor would do a great job - but, even if it's not the case, fans might still get to see him in the "Star Trek" movies!
Earlier this week, Variety released an exclusive story about the possible cast for the next film, as there's at least one sequel left of the J.J. Abrams reboot of the Enterprise story, and it seems like the actor from the HBO cult show "The Wire" is in early talks to play a villain on the film - in full make-up, too, as Elba would be taking the role of a Klingon, the iconic adversaries of the Federation in the "Star Trek" movies.
While Elba hasn't yet appeared in any "Star Trek" movies nor anything from that expanded universe, he's certainly no stranger to science fiction or major productions, as he took the role of gatekeeper Heimdall in the 2011 film "Thor," which makes him part of the large Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he's set to appear on this summer's film "Avengers: Age of Ultron."
As E! Online remembers, the previous installment of the "Star Trek" movies featured another Brit heartthrob, "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch, who took on the role of supervillain Khan in "Star Trek: Into Darkness."
Cumberbatch and Elba could be sharing scenes in the future, as the "Imitation Game" Oscar nominee was cast in the role of Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There are few known details known about the next installment of the "Star Trek" movies so far, except that the bad guys are rumored to be the Klingon.
