Fashion Police Hiatus: How Joan Rivers Death Led ‘Fashion Police’ To Crumble, From Kelly Osbourne To Giuliana Rancic

The first "Fashion Police" hiatus happened last year, after the death of its star Joan Rivers, by all accounts the heart of the show; after the comedienne's passing, it seems that nothing's going right for the E! Entertainment Television show since its return earlier this year.

Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin, two of the leading stars of the show once led by comedy legend Joan Rivers, have now left it, prompting the second "Fashion Police" hiatus in less than a year, as the show's executives try to patch things up after a major scandal with Giuliana Rancic and Zendaya - but is it worth it?

According to an exclusive story by The Hollywood Reporter, E! Entertainment has now placed "Fashion Police" on hiatus following a series of mishaps, from Rancic's racist slur to Zendaya up until Griffin quitting after only seven episodes of the show, as she stated publicly that the long-running fashion show helped setting impossible standards for women.

Before the story of the second "Fashion Police" hiatus came out, The New York Times had published an article about how the show seemed to be crumbling in its foundations, as it faced more and more issues since the demise of its star, with many fans thinking the show had gone back to business much too quickly.

Calling the mixture of talents a "toxic" one, the article went on to say that it was Rivers who provided a foundation for the show, as she was "mean" way before it started airing, which provided a cover for the show's deep schadenfreude.

In any case, according to The Huffington Post, the new "Fashion Police" hiatus changes the tone from what the cable network had announced before, as they said they'd continue their programming as scheduled, even though they were short two stars.

E! has stated that the "Fashion Police" hiatus will go on until September, as they find new replacements and set a new tone for the show. Only time will tell if it'll work this time or if it is ultimately doomed.
