Back in 2012, "Call Me Maybe" became an Internet sensation and ultimately even a chart-topping single, and the first of catchy Carly Rae Jepsen songs took the world by storm - but, as she releases new material for the first time in years, is her new song even catchier than the hit that made her famous?
For a few months there, it was hard to go out anywhere without hearing "Call Me Maybe" at any one place, from malls to dancing clubs, and it seemed like there could be no other Carly Rae Jepsen songs that ever managed to reach the same kind of success - until now.
According to Slate Magazine, it seems the Canadian singer has made it, and the latest of Carly Rae Jepsen's songs actually manages to be even catchier than the one that made her famous; this time, she uses the recourse of repetition once again, and, by the columnist's count, in "I Really Like You" Jepsen utters the word "really" 67 times.
Billboard calls the latest of Carly Rae Jepsen's songs a "breathless 80's banger" that takes right where "Call Me Maybe" left off, with a lot of percussion and flirtation, though saying the chorus less of a melodic hook than its predecessor.
The site states that, while it's practically impossible to top the previous success of such a song that played everywhere during a summer the way "Call Me Maybe" did, it wouldn't be surprise to see "I Really Like You" becoming the biggest success of the 2015 spring.
According to Time Magazine, the Canadian star had near impossible expectations to fill, as her manager, Scooter Braun, told her that he expected the next Carly Rae Jepsen songs had to be at least on the level of her chart-topping hit, so the singer and songwriter took it as a challenge and provided with this awesome sugary pop melody.
