Vikings running back Adrian Peterson's suspension has been overturned by U.S. District Judge David Doty. With Judge David Doty's ruling to disqualify the arbitrator's suspension against Peterson, the player is now eligible for reinstatement on the 15th day of April.
The decision was based on the two things, the arbitrators' failure to follow previous practices which is a main component of the contract and the arbitrator's abuse of authority. The judge believed that the arbitrator has already exceeded his authority for the two-game suspension given to Peterson. The truth is, Peterson almost miss out all his game in 2014 season which according to his father Nelson Peterson was totally injustice.
Peterson was suspended in November on charges of child abuse to his own four-year-old son for allegedly hitting him with a switch. The football player pleaded no contest to this allegation of misdemeanor reckless assault. However, spokesman Bryan MacCarthy of NFL said that the league disagrees with the judge's decision and NFL will file a notice of appeal on this matter. They believed that Judge Doty's decision is incorrect and against the NFLPA's personal conduct policy. Thus, Minnesota Vikings star's win over the suspension is not yet over. His on-going battle against NFL continuous after the football league announced their decision to file an appeal at Eight Circuit Court of Appeals. The football superstar will then return to the exempt list until his court case was resolved. According to McCarthy, communication between a player and team should not be allowed while he was under suspension.
Despite of Adrian Peterson's controversy on child abuse issue, the star player of Minnesota Vikings remains an important player in the team. Today's ruling made him under the control of the NFLPA, NFL, and the legal system. Peterson remains quite about the issue at this time.
