Richard Linklater reveals that he wants to consider a shooting sequel for Boyhood, the critically-acclaimed "coming-of-age drama" which have been considered as being snubbed at Oscars 2015.
The well-known film maker said during a Q and A Podcast that his pioneering "12-years-in the-making movie was intended as an ultimate rarity. But, he also added that when he thinks of a sequel, greater ideas start to flow in his mind.
Linklater said, "This film first met its audience exactly a year ago and for the first six months of the year, my answer to that was: 'Absolutely not.'" He added that it was twelve years, from the first grade to twelfth grade, talking about graduating from high school. He hasn't thought about another account and that he has nothing to pronounce and it hadn't even crossed his mind.
According to The Guardian, he quoted that "The 20s are pretty formative, you know? That's where you really become who you're going to be. It's one thing to grow up and go to college, but it's another thing to... so, I will admit my mind has drifted towards the idea of a sequel".
Linklater have also implied that a follow-up film won't essentially maintain the unusual structure of Boyhood. He suggested that his ultimate concern is to cover the same territory in his principle. Linklater's new movie called That's What I'm Talking About is actually a loose follow-up to his "1993's Dazed and Confused" which is also shoot in college setting with a wild-party-comedy and a perfect-segue-from-Boyhood.
Mentioned in an article posted at Forbes Life, Boyhood is a great exemplar of Linklater's penchant of working with same crew over time. It had significantly converted the cast into a family as the project becomes more than a mere film. It's a more intimate world for him to live with creative artists over decades of being in the film industry.
