A figment of online imagination, Slender Man became popular after Internet users around the world posted fictional stories about a supposed long and thin man that would lurk around children and do them harm; but things got out of the control with the meme after the Slender Man murders were revealed in 2014.
Back in May 2014, two Wisconsin teenagers called Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, were arrested over the Slender Man murders, which involved both of the children stabbing their friend, 12 year-old Payton Leutner, 19 times and then leaving them to die; however, the young girl ultimately survived after being timely led into the hospital with potentially deadly injuries.
Geyser and Weier stated then that they'd tried to kill Leutner to please Slender Man, as both teenage girls were obsessed with the Internet character.
Ever since the story of the Slender Man murders first broke out, the world has been attentively watching every move the two teenage girls involved make.
Now, ABC News describes the latest developments in the Slender Man murders case: Wisconsin police has just released the original tapes of the Weier and Geyser interrogations last year, where they both explain why they stabbed their friend almost 20 times.
Though the interrogation tapes were only released this week, they were filmed only hours after the children were arrested.
According to The Mirror, the interrogation tapes recorded after the Slender Man murders see both girls telling their plans to the police, saying, among other things, that their friend Payton had been "very gullible" and explaining that they didn't want to face the consequences if they didn't do what they did.
ABC7 reports that the tapes last about nine hours, and they show both girls being interviewed separately by the police, explaining that they knew they'd put their plan to motion during a sleepover.
"We told her we were going to get help . . . but we weren't. We were going to run and let her pass away. So we ran," said one of the suspects of the Slender Man murders in the videos.
