Albuquerque toddler shoots parents when he reached for his mother purse and found an unlocked loaded 9mm handgun. The shooting incident happened around 2 p.m. on second floor room of the motel at 2018 Menaul NE, Albuquerque Journal reported.
The toddler fired the gun and hit his father's buttock and hips then it also hit his mother's shoulders. The boy's sister who is 2-year-old was unharmed from the unexpected incident, The Washington Post reported.
The family was at an Albuquerque motel room when the shooting happened. Justin Reynolds, the father stated that he and his girlfriend, Monique Villescas were going to order pizza when the 3-year-old boy fired the gun. Both parents were rushed to a local hospital and were out of danger.
The mother remained at the hospital for close monitoring since she is pregnant. The Albuquerque toddler, shoots parents was in shock and crying. He was traumatized according to the father.
The boy and his 2-year-old sister were brought to New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department for close monitoring for 48 hours.

According to Officer Simon Drobik, the couple who are in their twenties will face criminal charges on neglect of the children. Aside from the loaded gun, the officers stated that there were two large pit bulls that are also threat to the children, The Guardian noted.

He also reported that he called 911 to ask for help. He added he used towel to stop her girlfriend's bleeding arm. The 2-year-old daughter was sitting beside the mother when the gun was fired. The children's grandmother was also called when the shooting took place.

According to Drobik, the father was a convicted felon and was on probation. This means that he must not be near a gun or to anyone who has a gun.
It is still unclear why the family was staying at the motel, which was named as America's Best Value Inn. Police officers have reported that they were previously staying in an Albuquerque home.
