Children Food Stamps: Census Shows 20 Percent US Children Live On Food Stamps

In a terrifying new census taken throughout the entire country, it has been discovered that, while children on food stamps aren't the majority on the United States, more than one out of five kids in the country eats every day thanks to these stamps, as the US is still fighting against poverty.

A yearly census has revealed that the amount of children on food stamps in the United States has grown exponentially since the start of the Great Recession, and that, even though the Obama administration has taken great interest in measures against the rise of poverty, it has been discovered that many of these children are actually living below the poverty line.

According to RT, the news about children on food stamps became apparent following the release of the "Families and living Arrangements" report earlier this week, an annual poll from the US Census Bureau, and it was shown that more than one kid out of five was getting his meal intake this way.

In all, there are approximately 73.7 million kids in the United States right now, and, according to The Blaze, about 16 million of them are receiving children food stamps for their everyday intake of meals - which is about one in every five kids, though slightly more than that.

Back in 2007, before the Great Recession started, there were only 9 million kids in the country receiving this, which amounted to approximately one out of every eight.

As The Guardian reports, another census from last fall showed that about one in five children in the United States lives in poverty; and, according to the United Nations, the country ranks 34 in the countries where this problem is most present, in a list that features mostly developing nations.

In the past few years, the Republican Party has attempted to cut back on expenses towards the poor, including last year's Congress' $8.6bn cut from Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits - pretty much, for grown-ups and children on food stamps.
