Though she's known for having been in the film business throughout her entire life and for a great number of Evan Rachel Wood movies, the actress is now taking on another challenge, this time in theater: she's joining the cast of the musical "For the Record: Dear John Hughes" in Hollywood.
The number of Evan Rachel Wood's movies includes indie favorites like the Beatles-centered musical "Across the Universe" and the George Clooney-directed "The Ides of March" starring Ryan Gosling; known as one of the most talented film actresses of her generation, Wood is really no stranger to theater.
According to Just Jared, Evan Rachel Wood's movies will have to wait for a little while, as the actress embarks herself on a new theater project: from February 6 to April 4, the "Thirteen" actress will be at West Hollywood's DBA on a musical honoring the films of iconic 80s director John Hughes.
Among Hughes' most famous films are the Molly Ringwald teen comedies "Pretty in Pink," "Sixteen Candles" and the high school classic "The Breakfast Club" - all of which will be honored in the musical that's putting Evan Rachel's movies on hold for a couple of months as she takes on Hollywood theater.
Billboard reports that the Golden Globe-nominated actress will be joining an all-star cast in the new production, including Rumer Willis from "90210," Tracie Thoms from "Rent" and Lindsey Gort, known for her role in "Carrie Diaries."
As Broadway World reports, "For the Record: Dear John Hughes" is part of a series of plays directed at reinventing cabaret performances for new generations, and they've already created musicals around the works of directors like Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson, Baz Luhrmann and even odd choices like Quentin Tarantino or the Coen brothers.
The "For the Record" series so far has toured in New York, Palm Springs, Austin and Montreal.
Fans of Evan Rachel Wood's movies shouldn't get too concerned, however: according to her IMDb page, the actress will be releasing at least four new projects this year!
