The Kentucky Fried Chicken invention of the Double Down, a burger with no buns, where they're switched for two pieces of fried chicken around a patty, has given the world a great many number of food travesties, including a version with a patty filled with beef and bacon; now, the KFC Double Down dog.
Last year, the South Korean KFC franchise released the Zinger Double Down King, according to Food World News, which introduced the world a burger that had no buns but rather two pieces of fried chicken holding in a patty mixed with beef and bacon, in a burger with about 750 calories - now, the Philippines will get the new KFC Double Down dog.
According to The Star, the new KFC Double Down dog is exactly what it sounds like: a hot dog wrapped in a "bun" made out of fried chicken, while covered in cheese. It's the newest version of a long line of products, including the original and discontinued Double Down from 2010, which was a bacon sandwich that changed bread for chicken.
As The Daily Mail reports, the new KFC Double Down dog is the latest food item to come from the Philippines franchise, following a long tradition of weird KFC items in Asian menus, from the aforementioned Korean one to last year's promotion on the Japanese restaurants as they celebrated the franchise's anniversary in the country: back in September, the joint created by Colonel Sanders gave out fried chicken-themed PC peripherals like a USB stick, a computer mouse, a keyboard and fried chicken earrings as a consolation prize.
Mashable reports that the new item will only be available for two days in the Philippines, considering the fact that perhaps more than that would mean the franchise be forced to pay for the artery unclogging of the entire population of the Southeast Asia country, considering that the KFC Double Down dog isn't exactly the lightest item on the menu.
