Michelle Williams Beyoncé: Destiny’s Child Bandmate Defends ‘Bootylicious’ Friend On ‘The View’

Every other week, news comes out regarding the most recent fight in "The View," where things often get catty between the hostesses and even guests; now, co-hosting a recent episode of the morning talk show, Michelle Williams' Beyoncé comments came as her Destiny's Child buddy defended the superstar from getting unfairly criticized.

In a recent appearance in "The View," Republican politician Mike Huckabee slammed the "Beautiful Liar" performer, but he spoke too hastily, as her close friend and former Destiny's Child band mate was in the room, and Michelle Williams' Beyoncé retort came about in a spin, as she fiercely defended her longtime friend.

According to The Daily Mail, Michelle Williams' Beyoncé comment came last Thursday, as she was co-hosting "The View" with longtime moderator Rosie O'Donnell. Another guest for the day was Mike Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor and Republican presidential nominee, who started talking about how Jay-Z's wife didn't "need" to do songs that went against family values to be talented.

As Billboard reports, the Fox News host was visiting "The View" in the midst of a tour to promote his new book entitled "God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy," where he slams the singer for her sexualized performances, as he's been thoroughly stating that her music basically encourages young girls to become strippers.

Of course, Michelle Williams' Beyoncé love wasn't having any of that, and the singer came out to defend her longtime friend from the "very, very low" comments the politician had made about the singer, whom Rosie O'Donnell first stood up to defend.

"As someone who has definitely come up in a group with her," Williams started, according to The Root, "I just feel like that album and those songs is that one moment where she decided to probably do some songs she's always wanted to do to shed that 'I'm a good girl...' She had some freedom and she owned it and she took it, so I was definitely offended -- I'm not the Carter spokesperson."

Michelle Williams and Beyoncé go way back to 1999, as they met each other during their days in Destiny's Child, one of the most popular female groups in history, which launched both of their careers - leading Beyoncé to become the most Grammy-nominated female recorder in history since.
