Last year, the "Angie" singer and rocker of classic band The Rolling Stones had a major loss in his life, as his longtime partner, model and fashion designer L'Wren Scott, ended her own life last March; now, the singer has released a new Mick Jagger scholarship to honor his lost love.
While the idea of a Mick Jagger scholarship seems unlikely to the ears, everything makes much more sense when put in the context of L'Wren Scott's recent death, which obviously hit the rocker the hardest, as he'd been in a longtime relationship with the fashion designer since 2001.
According to E! Online, the Mick Jagger scholarship will be given out to fashion students at London's Central Saint Martins, once a year to one of the master's degree students in the program from now through 2017.
"I am very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package, gifted by Mick Jagger in L'Wren Scott's name," said Fabio Piras, the course director of MA Fashion, to Vogue, regarding the new Mick Jagger scholarship. "Our students sacrifice much to take up this course and work extremely hard while they are here. I am very proud of the fact that this course, through its alumni, continues to be recognized as a major contributor to the future of the global fashion industry."
Of course, Fashion is hardly a cheap choice of profession, as it may entail expensive fabrics and handiwork, so the new grant in L'Wren Scott's name is a major help for those who have the talent to enroll in the prestigious London school but may not possess the resources to go through with the M.A.
The Mick Jagger scholarship comes nearly a year after Scott was found dead at her home last March; after this, the "Satisfaction" rocker went on to state that he had lost his "lover and best friend," according to Hollywood Reporter at the time.
