Mariah Carey Las Vegas Residency CONFIRMED! Diva Taking Celine Dion Spot At Caesar’s Palace [VIDEO]

Following ongoing reports that the "We Belong Together" singer was heading off to the Nevada city soon, now the diva with the famous voice has officially confirmed Mariah Carey's Las Vegas residency, as she'll be taking up Celine Dion's spot in Caesar's Palace for a while.

Celine Dion will be taking a short break from her ongoing Caesar's Palace residence (as she was one of the first stars that made these stints famous, long before Britney Spears signed for two years at Planet Hollywood; now, Mariah Carey's Las Vegas residency joins the Princess of Pop's as one of the top billings in the city of casinos and resorts.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Mariah Carey's Las Vegas residency was barely confirmed last week, after the singer had been followed by rumors for months surrounding the possibility of staying in the Nevada city for a while, in a contract that was said to be even higher than Spears' Planet Hollywood one.

As TMZ reports, Britney Spears is making $ 475 thousand a show in her two year residency, and rumors are that Mariah Carey's Las Vegas residency contract actually surpasses this amount, which comes as no shock, considering Carey's reputation as a diva throughout her career.

The announcement was made in a recent interview on Ellen DeGeneres' "The Ellen Show," according to Rolling Stone Magazine, where the "Hero" singer will be taking up Celine Dion's place, who recently announced she wouldn't be going back on March to take care of her sick husband, René Angelil.

"I'm going to do my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars," the singer said, confirming the long-standing rumors of Mariah Carey's Las Vegas residency. "This is a special event for me. And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this cause I'm gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album #1's, and this is now the updated version with eighteen of them. Hopefully other people will enjoy this. I've never done this before. It's a new chapter for me and I'm just excited about it."
