Following the huge critical success of his film "Birdman," which recently got the "Batman" actor an Academy Award nomination, it seems that, for Michael Keaton, Ray Kroc is the next role ahead, as he's rumored to be in talks to play the man behind the McDonald's fast food empire.
Many have seen his performance in "Birdman" as a major comeback for Keaton, as he plays an actor known for having played a superhero in his youth - just like he did in the Tim Burton "Batman" movies; now, apparently the next step for the many characters of Michael Keaton is Ray Kroc.
According to Time Magazine, the Michael Keaton Ray Kroc movie is yet to be confirmed, but the "Batman Returns" actor is rumored to be in talks to play the American business who turned the small burger restaurant into the biggest fast food chain in the world.
In an exclusive story by The Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that Michael Keaton's Ray Kroc move might really be in the works, as the actor reportedly met with "Saving Mr. Banks" director John Lee Hancock, who has been on board in the project for a while now, in a film set to be named "The Founder."
"The Founder is a drama that tells the true story of how Ray Kroc, a salesman from Illinois, met Mac and Dick McDonald, who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California," is how the film has been described, according to Joblo. "Kroc was impressed by the brothers' speedy system of making the food and saw franchise potential. He maneuvered himself into a position to be able to pull the company from the brothers and create a billion-dollar empire."
Following last Thursday's news that Keaton had gotten his first-ever Oscar nomination, it seems appropriate that he should follow up with a project like this - fans will just have to wait and see whether the news of Michael Keaton's Ray Kroc performance is confirmed!
