With its latest release of the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532, it looks like Microsoft is shifting is market from high-end consumers to a lower and more affordable phones that will no doubt attract many customer. Microsoft's newest Windows phone, the Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 goes on sale for $81 and $92 respectively.
The low-end pricing may be enough to attract buyers but it might be less impressive to specs conscious consumers which mean that Microsoft has to cut some corners in order to build the phone and come up with that reasonable price.
The Lumia 435 has a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor. It has 1 Gigabyte of RAM and 8 Gigabytes of internal storage which can be upgraded to as much as 128 Gigabyte through the phones microSD support. The phone is 3G capable and has a 1560mAh battery which is also replaceable. The phone has two cameras, the 0.3 megapixel front camera can be used for video purposes only which makes it ideal for Skype calls while the rear camera has 2 megapixels and capable of taking photos and videos as well. The phone also has a single and dual-SIM variants.
The Lumia 532 on the other hand has the same specs as the Lumia 435 and just has some minor upgrades. Instead of the dual-core processor, the 532 will have a quad-core processor. The camera is also upgrade to a 5-megapixel rear camera.
Both smartphones will come installed with mobile version of Microsoft Office applications.
Microsoft's decision to market at the lower-priced smartphone market might be a response to Google's move of releasing cheaper phones with the Android One OS. Right now Android devices below $100 are making its headway in India's smartphone market.
