Report: Pics of Veggies Cause Kids to Eat Up

An article in the Washington Post brings to light one method that is showing promise in getting children to eat more vegetables in school. A study was done by researchers at the University of Minnesota that consisted of placing photos of vegetables in kids' school lunch trays. The photos matched the vegetables that were on the menu for that day.

The results were promising in regards to the amount of vegetables that were consumed that day. Kids seemed to feel the need to fill their trays with the vegetables that were shown in the pictures.

By implementing this method, which would take very little time and money, kids may be encouraged to eat more vegetables than they would otherwise. If good eating habits are enforced in schools, kids are more likely to eat better throughout their lives.
