Just when McDonald's Japan thought things would be finally going smoothly following the December French fries scandal, just about the worst thing that can happen to a restaurant anywhere in the world has befallen them: a patron found an actual human finger in his meal.
The horrifying incident in McDonald's Japan comes just a few days after the fast food chain resolved an issue that emerged last month: due to workers' issues in the American West Coast (from where the frozen goods for the Japanese venues ship), the franchise had to stop selling large fries in the Asian country, which caused a stir; last week, the company announced they'd be importing the fries from the East Coast instead, where there are no issues.
However, nobody could know that the appeasing of the McDonald's Japan French fries issue was only the first time the chain would make news in January 2015. According to Bloomberg, the company admitted this Wednesday that someone had actually found a human tooth in their meal, particularly as they were eating the much-maligned nuggets.
However, Reuters reports that the finger wasn't actually the only recent McDonald's Japan issue with their providers. The apology released last Wednesday also mentioned that a diner in the country had found a strip of vinyl in a Chicken McNugget during the past weekend, which forced the chain to stop the sales of products that came from the plant in item that produced the aforementioned nuggets.
According to The Wall Street Journal, there was a whole report regarding the issues of the chain in the country, as it becomes suspicious of its providers - and this following a similar scandal in China last year, with meat suppliers in a supposedly very dirty factory and selling expired nuggets.
Among the McDonald's Japan issues are: pieces of plastic inside French fries in Osaka over the past summer and another bit of plastic in a chocolate sundae - which turned out to be a part of the machine where the dessert was made.
