UK Nurse Positive With Ebola Currently Under Critical Condition

British nurse Pauline Cafferkey was reported to be in critical condition based on reports released by the Royal Free Hospital. According to one of the hospitals official statement they expressed that they were "sorry to announce that the condition of Pauline Cafferkey has gradually deteriorated over the past two days."

The treatment of Ms. Cafferkey, who is a resident of South Lanarkshire, involves transfusion of some experimental anti-viral drug and blood from Ebola survivors. Another patient from Swindon who was also treated for Ebola was declared safe and negative from the said virus.

Ms. Cafferkey was a public nurse and a volunteer of Save the Children foundation in Sierra Leone. Reports show that she was infected with the dreaded Ebola virus while serving at Sierra Leone.

United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron shared on his Twitter account on Saturday: "My thoughts and prayers are with nurse Pauline Cafferkey who is in critical condition with Ebola."

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt also shared his concern about the situation with a statement: "I know Dr. Mike Jacobs and his team at the Royal Free Hospital is working tirelessly to provide her with the best possible care."

Reports indicated that Ms. Cafferkey arrived at London's Heathrow Airport via Casablanca, Morocco. She was initially declared clear from Ebola infection after her temperature was taken a total of seven times. All attempts showed that she was not showing sign of Ebola so she was allowed to fly home to Scotland.

A spokesperson from Public Health England already said that the entire 101 UK-based passenger that took the same flight with Ms. Cafferkey has already been contacted by medical authorities. Additionally, Dr. Nick Beeching who is an infectious disease specialist from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine said that the public has no reason to worry and that the risk of public infection is virtually "nil".
