Ever since the release of its Galaxy line of smartphones, Samsung has put Apple on the center of its crosshairs. The two tech giants has been on each other back for quite some time now and many experts has doubts as to who will emerge on top. Latest reports however shows that Apple is not the biggest threat to Samsung's reign but rather emerging companies like Xiaomi and Micromax.
The sudden change of threat has risen in the recent shift of the ever changing smartphone industry. According to experts, neither North America nor Europe is the next big thing when it comes to the smartphone market but rather the emerging market of India and most specially China.
Samsung has previously released old modeled phones in China and was proved to be mildly successful. However, the recent increase in demand of cheap smartphones will present a bigger threat for Samsung which is currently targeting high-end customers. A recent study shows that China will account for almost a third of the overall smartphone sales in 2015 and the Chinese market is much more aligned to cheaper phones rather than high-end phones like iPhone 6 or the Samsung Galaxy S5.
This is where the local emerging tech giant Xiaomi comes in play. Xiaomi is has already kicked Samsung in the number one spot for market share within China. The once Samsung-dominated market is now embracing a new approach when it comes to smartphones, a high-end phone with a low-end price. The same can be said in India, although Samsung still holds the top spot in terms of market shares, Micromax is slowly clawing is way up to the top and if Samsung cannot create a new business strategy for these emerging tech companies, it will take no more than a year before these companies will completely take over Samsung's spot in the world market.
The most important thing for Samsung right now is to figure out something in order to counter these new companies' products or else it will see itself become the next Nokia or Blackberry.
