Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
4 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup margarine, softened
1 1/4 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Grease 8-inch round cake pan.
2. In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt; blend well.
3. With pastry blender or fork, cut in 1/4 cup butter until until it resembles coarse meal, and add in raisins.
4. Add beaten egg and buttermilk; blend well until the dough is too stiff to stir.
5. On the well-floured surface, knead dough 5 or 6 times or until no longer sticky.
6. Press dough in a large greased pan. With sharp knife, cut the top of the dough an inch and a half deep in an "X" shape. Brush with melted butter.
7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes or until golden brown. (Also you can check by inserting a long, thin skewer into the center of the bread.)
8. Immediately remove from pan. Cool on a wire rack. Serve warm.
